Contents
Miconazole nitrate
Indications/Uses
Dermatophytes or yeasts, mycoses & other fungi eg, tinea capitis, corporis, manuum, barbae, cruris, pedis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply bd for 2-6 wk. Continue treatment at least 1 wk after signs & symptoms have disappeared.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to miconazole or other imidazole derivatives.
Special Precautions
Discontinue treatment if severe hypersensitivity eg, anaphylaxis & angioedema occur. Concomitant use in patients on warfarin. Avoid contact w/ eyes. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Skin burning sensation, inflammation & hypopigmentation; application site irritation, burning, pruritus, reaction & warmth.
Drug Interactions
Monitor anticoagulant effect w/ warfarin. Increased oral hypoglycemic & phenytoin effects.
